VMWare ESX... it is just linux

At the moment I am working on a project who uses VMWare ESX. It is quite nice, although it is just 'Linux', with some VMWare stuff built in.
The hardware to play with is also quite nice, it is an IBM x3800 with 4 dual core Xeon cpu's (at the moment Hyperthreading is disabled)
So I have a lot of fun

Yesterday my new OfficeJet 7310. So I grabbed it out of the box and wanted to install it under Linux.. .
But... I couldn't configure it using the menu... it wants to install it via the Windows-tools (or Apple tools)
So I decided to install the free VMWare Server and install Windows. At this point Windows is installed... now I have to add all additional packages... On the other hand it is easy to have windows in VM... especially for troubleshooting and testing stuff for the windows users I support.
