A memory hole of 512MB

Recently I installed 4 time 1Gigabyte memory in my Dual Opteron at home... I started it up... and the BIOS showed the 4GB (so I was happy), after that Gentoo got booted.
After that Gentoo was booted... I missed 512MB of memory. First I thought it was a Linux problem, but it wasn't. So I did a major upgrade of the BIOS... and hoped it works... but it didn't. After some google searched, it seems to be a Tyan Thunder K8W problem.. but there are solutions... but didn't figure it out yet

So, I installed new blog software... the old one (BBLog) wasn't maintained for a long period. To avoid to get into the hands of hackers... I decided to install a more up-2-date blog tool, named Serendipity

Recently I was reading an article about 'Stream Control Transmission Protocol'. This procotol acts on the same layer as TCP/UDP (layer 4).
I found this new protocol very interessting and are planning to implement this on my homenetwork and play around with it...

As you know, I have at home a dual opteron system. This machine is recently upgraded up to 4GB of RAM... so I decided to install a new Linux kernel (at that time it was the 2.6.22.5).
After the upgrade, the nspluginwrapper didn't work any more!
A received an error like:
npviewer.bin: cannot execute binary file
But Google didn't gave me any solution... but after some brainstorming I realised that I didn't enable the IA32 support in the kernel.
It is about the next options in the config file:
CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION=y
CONFIG_IA32_AOUT=y
Update: I submitted a bug at bugzilla of Gentoo and there is a discussion about it

Sorry for the long silence at my weblog
In the meanwhile I had my 3 weeks leave. We went to my parrents cottage in a town near Zwolle (NL). We (my wife, the two kids and myself) really enjoyed it... but know it is back to the hard working life.
At this moment I requested to get into the Product Group Security of Snow BV, from that point of view I also want to do the CISSP-course
And something else... the company who is hiring me via Snow, changed my title to Technical Security Consultant, from that perspective I do the next type of work:
Consultancy regarding security for new applications
consultancy regarding existing applications to make them compliant with security-policies
Engineering of tools for security related issues
Also analysis for security sign-off.
