Zylab course... time to get...

Today I gonna have a ZyLab course and to be honest...
I do not looking forward to this course!

The Zylab suit exists out of the next modules:

• ZyScan (Scan application and OCR)
  
• ZyIndex
  
• ZyFind (search the indexes)
  

The only good module of this product is 'ZyScan', it is a really good OCR engine...

But the other 2 modules are able to go to the 'recycle bin' and I will tell you why...

First of all, they are building on their old success from the past... What they need is a total new architecture, i.e. parallel/distributed query handling. They also need a good ZyFind webinterface... and yes I know they have, but their technology is a pain in the ass. Based on M$ IIS with dot-Net stuff...

They could better switch over to:

• Apache webserver
  
• PERL and/or PHP
  
• MySQL
  
• Swish-E indexering and/or Mnogo Search
  

So... do you understand why I don't look forward to this course...

**UPDATE: I just red on Slashdot about the fact that our friends from Google released Tesseract OCR opensource! So.. we only need a scanning engine
